A new Direction? Or maybe just a clearer idea of where we’re headed…

OK, so looking back, a blog post in February on a blog that occasionally deals with the topic of Getting Things Done?
Great way to showcase that… 😀

Anyway, It has been a while, so I may just get right to it.

Warpcon 2012: Day 1: Friday

Hello there! If you’re coming from Wee Gamers, Welcome! This is a short piece I wrote for them covering my experience of Warpcon 2012 from the Warhammer 40K scene in Cork.

Just to get a few things out of the way: I’m in no way a Power Gamer or a WAAC kind of person. I’m currently (until the AGM at least) the Secretary of WAC (The Wargamers Association of Cork). And I tend to ramble a bit… 😀

These next few posts detail my experiences at what has been my 7th Warpcon to date. Read on for more. Continue reading Warpcon 2012: Day 1: Friday

On Working…

Well, I have started my new job in tier 1 tech support for [NDA] Inc.

Of course, I can’t talk about it. The first rule of Fight Club and all that. But 3 weeks of training out of 4 down, and I’m feeling OK about getting through this job. While it doesn’t pay nearly as much as Eat More Chicken did, at least I have my nights and half a weekend again. And I was able to get me a shiny mac mini out of the wages, so I could set the bugger up as a media machine, which I’ve wanted to do for a while, but that’s for another entry.

The only thing that bothers me? Training is taking place in a big metal box, in one of the most humid and warm months Ireland has had in a while. I’m sweating my balls off daily and it can be more than a little uncomfortable.

Thankfully, the main job won’t be that warm and has aircon. So, warm in winter, cold in summer. (Note for non-irish readers, While I may say “Summer” and “Winter”, please don’t take that to mean we have a standard climate. We have two seasons, the Wet Season, and the Wetter One. It’s just we’re more used to more subtle variations.)

Basically the point of this post is to say, I’m back from holidays, back from real life stealing time and feeling slightly more productive than last time.

Have fun and I’ll see you on the flipside.

A Bigger Hammer

For the name of this blog I chose the old adage: “Don’t force it, find a bigger hammer.”

Now, any old school linux geek gets the reference, if you don’t: Fortune.

Why this? you may ask? (Well you would, except I’ve disabled comments, heh.)

Well, this space is for me to rant, to vent, to discuss issues that affect me, that I find interesting etc.

It’s here for my use, as a creative outlet. And so far, no problems.

Welcome! Come on in! Make yourselves at-

Actually don’t make yourselves at home. I’d rather not have folk messing the place up. And tell your kids to get off my damn lawn!

Anyhew, as can be evidenced, I’ve started a “blog”. Not to fit in with anyone, but more to have an outlet for my creativity that *I* control. I may post stuff here belonging to friends or others I deem deserving, but thats down to my decisions.

I’d say feel free to comment, but I’ve disabled comments. This is MY space, I’d rather not have to trawl through linking comments and ads every time I post. Any complaints? Tough. Life’s hard, get a helmet.
